As important as your work feels, I know you also hold an emergent desire to create a new way to be in business, one that honors your body’s natural rhythms, the integrity of your purposeful work, and your desire to be financially well resourced.
The complexity of existing within the realities of (late-stage) capitalism means that running a generative business, on your terms, is a radical act, going against deeply ingrained conditioning.
Choosing to walk a conscious entrepreneurial path means you will likely encounter a whole new set of inner barriers that may interfere with your desire to create an abundant and flourishing business.
The most common fears I hear…
“Who am I to charge a higher rate?”
“Who will I become if I prioritize making money over helping others?”
And the sneakiest barrier of all…? “Can I trust myself to manage the money + wealth my business could generate?”
In self-employment, your relationship with money becomes a great asset, or a potential liability.
You see, the beautiful news is that in self-employment, your income isn’t capped.
Yet with this unbridled potential your conscious + unconscious fears often get stirred up, intervening to keep you in the comfortable realm of the familiar – also known as the extreme frustration of a multi-year income plateau.
While by no means the only challenge in self-employment, money anxiety can act as an Achilles Heel across all aspects of business.
For instance:
Your desire for more time freedom may quickly be negated with a sense of scarcity – either a fear of losing income if you work less, or a fear that your work will soon dry up and you better take on that (unaligned) client.
Your need to hire support may be met with the fear of the financial investment, and a quick “I can’t afford it” rather than a thoughtful review of what is possible, and what strategic support is necessary for your business to grow.
This is the work I do with my self-employed clients. As a Wealth Doula, my role is to help you see and understand where your earning potential is entangled – and instead, help it flow.

Together we’ll decide which timeframe (4 or 12 sessions) is best suited to your needs, then I will curate your steps through the practical + emotional layers of this work that align best with your stated goals.

Though I was trained as a Certified Financial Recovery Counselor, I am not a licensed therapist. I am very clear about the boundary of where my work ends, and where your work with a therapist will need to begin. I often receive referrals from therapists and refer my clients to seek therapy. Each of our roles is distinct yet complimentary.

I am none of these official titles. Each is a necessary asset for a well-rounded financial team.
Here Is a brief overview of various financial professionals. You can read a more extensive blog post HERE about who you may need or want to hire.
If you need help or are ready to begin planning for retirement, you may want to work with a Certified Financial Planner, a CFP or a Retirement Financial Advisor who specializes in retirement. CFPs often specialize, so inquire about your needs to ensure you have a good fit for the service you are looking for.
If you need investment advice, or oversight, you will want to hire a Fee Only Financial Advisor. Make sure that whoever you hire to advise your investment decisions is a Fiduciary and has your best interests as their focus (not their commission, ask how they are compensated).
If you want someone to manage your investments on your behalf, you will want to hire an Investment Firm* or an Independent Investment Advisor* who is paid 1-2% commission on all of your “assets under management” (AUM). Usually, a firm will offer financial planning and tax advising as a part of their fee.
If you need help filing your taxes, you can hire a Tax Preparer* (not necessarily a CPA) or a Certified Public Accountant* (CPA).
If you need help getting organized with your business income and expenses, you will want to find a Certified Bookkeeper.
If you have a complex tax situation or want strategic tax advice, you may need to hire a Tax Advisor*.
While I cannot (and don’t) advise on tax strategy, retirement, or investments, I do help you prepare for this work, so you walk into an appointment with clarity about your financial situation and confidence, rather than cowering to a professional's perceived authority.
*The best option is to do a search for this term/professional in your local area. Ask other trusted professionals/people for a referral. Interview people before you hire them to ensure you feel supported within the relationship

Our sessions are held over Zoom which allows us to see one another’s faces and share our screens whenever we spend time on the practical side of our work.

First, know that I will help you make this decision after hearing your goals and more about your situation. Yet I know how important it is for you to have your own sense of what it is you may need.
There are a few things I want you to consider:
Consider the container that is spacious enough to allow you enough time to shift, change and grow without unnecessary urgency or expectation.
Know that if you sign up for a shorter series of sessions, you can always extend your engagement.
It is my job to ensure we meet, or move you further towards, your stated goals within the timeframe of our engagement, yet your pace deserves respect. Due to the nature of emotional, spiral-ic work, I just ask that you honor the possibility of a continuation if necessary.

It will depend and can vary greatly over the duration of our work together. The work I ‘assign’ between sessions varies from 30min-a few hours. I will always moderate based on your capacity at any given time. The gift of having my individualized support is that I can distill the most essential tasks if necessary to ensure you get the most out of our work without feeling overwhelmed.
Open communication between us is key - this is not school and you aren’t getting any grades. Advocating for your needs and releasing any expectation of perfection can be its own form of healing!
