You can have a peaceful relationship with money.

Building Sanctuary

Creating peaceful and intentional space is my natural way of moving in the world. When I look back, it’s the golden thread that runs through everything I do, in my work, in my friendships, in my parenting.

At four years old I stayed home from school to build a real version of “My House” that I’d illustrated in stacks and stacks of preschool drawings. I trudged back and forth from our house to our barn that day, 2x4s and a hammer clutched in my chubby arms. A few years later my father and I built a tree house that would become my refuge until my early teen years; a space where I learned to listen, envision, and create my own reality away from the noise.

I believe that your peaceful relationship with money, and the wealth you wish to create, are midwifed from within an inner sanctuary. This is the space I both offer, and help you cultivate.

People often tell me that I have a very grounding presence. Clients who arrive to a session feeling out of sorts will remark at the end that they feel calm, centered, and clear. One day as a client was leaving my office she said, “I love coming here, it’s like a Spa for my checking account.”

In the same way, my home is an expression of my grounded energy. Strangers who come to our home often remark on how peaceful it is, like a sanctuary or a retreat. It seems to be a quality that permeates throughout my life.

This carries through into my work with you – as your coach, I hold space for you to navigate the emotional spectrum that tends to surface around money so you can find safety deep within.

When all parts of you are held, especially the complex and shadowy layers you hold around money, your true needs and soul desires emerge.

From this place a more peaceful relationship with money becomes the foundation on which you can create the abundant and wealthy life you envision, one that supports your truest expression. One that feels like a homecoming.

My Journey Here

I’ve followed a windy path to where I am today, having fully claimed my role as a Wealth Doula.

I graduated with honors from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Comparative History of Ideas. I was full of curiosity about the human experience yet had absolutely zero idea how I would financially support myself.

On paper I was ‘good with money’ and turned this aptitude into a vocation as a certified bookkeeper (first at a Prenatal Yoga studio in Seattle, then later for over 20 small businesses).

In witnessing various clients struggle, agonize, and fantasize about money, I needed to understand why patterns persisted despite helpful information.

My curiosity led me to the Financial Recovery Institute where I began my certification. It also was the beginning of my own healing journey with money (an insidious pattern of under-earning, underspending, a great discomfort with wealth, and a core belief that I was unworthy of receiving).

Finding this line of work was like coming home. For once, my analytical mind and intuitive mind were both required and respected.

This work awakened the careers I had always envisioned for myself—teacher, therapist, writer—but didn’t formally pursue. Surprisingly, this role drew most on the skills I had acquired as a Birth Doula, supporting those crossing one of life’s most powerful thresholds.

After guiding clients so intimately for well over a decade, I know this work goes much deeper than money. My role has evolved to include that of a healer, companioning my clients through a healing portal, much like a birth portal where a truer version of self is born.

My mission is to evolve our individual and collective understanding of the potent healing role money can have in our lives.

It Feels Important to Say…

Tended Wealth is unequivocally Anti-Racist, Pro-LGBTQIA+, and Pro-Mama Earth.

Our relationship to money is one part personal, one part political. Our economic system is clearly not working for all. Yet our liberation comes when we reclaim our agency to shift our own reality and strive to create a more equitable economy collectively.

In recognition of my own privilege, the racial wealth gap, the gender wealth gap, and the devastating wealth disparity in our country, I offer many course participants reduced fee tuition each year. My business contributes 5% of the course proceeds to local and national organizations who provide financial education and/or emotional support. Some past recipients include: The Black Resilience Fund, NAYA Pdx, Portland Family Homeless Solutions, the Loveland Foundation, and direct giving to individuals in need.

We are interconnected and interdependent. Love is Love is Love. Suffering exists when we forget this truth.

May we walk lightly on the earth to fulfill our joy and purpose while supporting others to fulfill theirs.
